〜には無理がある

Meaning

This grammar pattern expresses that a certain matter is unlikely to be realized, that doing it would be very difficult, or that it is unreasonable.

Examples

1. この計画には無理がある。
   This plan is unrealistic.

2. 試験に受かるためには学習に多くの時間を割ればいい。極端に言うと睡眠以外の15時間程度をすべて学習時間に充てればよい。だが、それには無理がある。
   To pass the exam, you just need to spend a lot of time studying. To put it extremely, you could devote all 15 hours outside of sleep to studying. But that's simply not feasible.

3. 理論上の問題は何もないが、実際に実行するには無理があるかもしれない。
   There are no issues in theory, but it may be impossible to carry out in practice.

4. A:日本に着いたらますハッピー遊楽園に行って、午後から東京から新幹線で大阪に行って3時間ぐらい観光して、そのあとすぐ飛行機で北海道に移動しよう。 B:その日程にはちょっと無理があるんじゃない。
   A: When we arrive in Japan, let's go to Happy Amusement Park first, then take the shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka in the afternoon for about 3 hours of sightseeing, and after that fly straight to Hokkaido. B: That schedule is a bit unreasonable, don't you think?
