Meaning
This grammar pattern is used when the speaker imagines or assumes how another person would feel or think in a given situation, rather than speaking from personal experience. The speaker takes on the other person's perspective to make an inference about their emotions, thoughts, or reactions. It always refers to someone else's position, never the speaker's own.
