あいだ vs あいだに: Continuous Action or One-Time Event?

One little「に」makes all the difference — あいだ emphasizes duration, あいだに marks a single event within a time period.

「あいだ」and「あいだに」differ by just one「に」, but the meaning shifts subtly. While mixing them up won't break communication, this distinction is a frequent exam topic.
